Pellman Willow Desk

This desk is the last in a series of projects for my long time client (more than thirty years) Ken Pellman. As with many of our past projects, this one started with a question from Mr. Pellman, “Can you make me a desk that has an open framework with drawers kind of floating?…”

FRONT VIEW

Willow top, Lacewood (drawers front and back), cherry, Endless Knott design on back and side grilles. The plant flourishes are Willow dyed dark green.

BACK VIEW

This desk was designed to be seen from all sides with the back as beautiful as the front.

SIDE GRILLE

Endless Knot Design

TOP DETAIL

Cherry legs pierce the top as 2” round Tenons locked in with maple wedges

DRAWER DETAIL

Hand cut dovetails are made “half-blind’ by an overlay of solid Lacewood shaped to a graceful curve

Drawers have a hidden stop to prevent them from being pulled out of the framework.

Extra long dovetails connect the drawer supports to the legs.
